Famous Dutch freestyle trainer Emiel Voest with double longe and pushball

Emiel Voest learned me this method of double longe 6 years ago. After a while it was my idea to create a variation on pushball on horsback, you may call it "pushball behind horseback" (if this word exist in English).
Emiel learned my Norwegian fjord horse Ingalill working with the ball and the double longe. See the picture is a result, even we both can turn corners with this horse.

This horse is a daughter of the mare Ose on the picture of 1982, with the ball in the center. Ingalill is in the training of the other horses and pony's the so called "Mirror Horse" (as Monty Roberts should say): the behaviour of this experienced pushball horse is an example (mirror) for the debutant animals who are reallly exited by watching this large (pony size) yellow ball. These learning animals have trusted and watched my patient horse: this proces was a succes for about 55 pony's and horses in 4 years time!

Picture is made by Ben Schellekens on 6. of April 2008 in Rotterdam (NL)

Pushball on horseback: small research

Dear pushball lovers,

For this moment I am interested in the history of "pushball on horseback" and its origine. Do you play pushball in compatition in your country? Are you organised? What kind of rules do you use? Which tactics work (not)?
Can elephant play pushball with a large pushball (like the horses) or only with a big football with their nose? See YouTube.com site.

My background:
I'm Dutch and live in Rotterdam (Main Port of Europe). My first experience (with my horse) with pushball was in 1982 in Offental, Germany. Now we are training pony's and horses in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After 3 year searching I finally found a large pushball for the horses. It's difficult to find the right ball-size for each horse breed - for the safety of the game is this essential! The pushball may not get stuck under the belly of the horse/pony.
This year I found Pushball Rules from 1928, used in Germany (origine Italy).
